Field notes: Non-translated authority

Non-translated authority is legitimacy that operates without behavioural assimilation or elite mediation. It does not rely on refinement, narrative repair, or explanatory framing to remain credible.

This authority is produced through continuity. Behaviour, tone, and operating logic remain consistent across contexts, including moments of visibility, pressure, and institutional access. Because nothing shifts, the authority remains legible without interpretation.

Non-translated authority does not seek comfort or pre-empt critique. It is not persuasive. It is observable.

In conditions of continuous exposure, this form of authority becomes durable. When behaviour is already visible and stable, there is no "reveal" to destabilise it. Risk is explicit rather than latent.

Non-translated authority is often misread as disorder. This misreading confuses refusal of assimilation with lack of discipline.
